On October 19, 2024, the 3rd China Local Pig Resource Conservation and Development Forum was held in Foshan, Guangdong. This forum was jointly organized by Foshan Kunpeng Modern Agriculture Research Institute and China Pig Information Network & "Pig Industry Science" Super Editorial Department. Focusing on the development of the local pig industry, with the theme of "Cultivating New Productivity of Live pigs and Promoting High-quality Development of Consumption", it invited experts, scholars, and industry leaders to offer suggestions and strategies for the development of the local pig industry, analyze the current situation and development trends of the local pig industry, explore the market demand and consumption trends of local pig products, share experiences, exchange ideas, and better promote the transformation, upgrading, and high-quality development of the local pig industry, and promote the healthy development of the live pig industry. VJTBio participated in this forum as a co-organizing unit.

The conference lasted for 3 days, with more than 200 experts, representatives of agricultural research institutions, entrepreneurs, and industry-related personnel from all over the country gathered in Foshan. Leaders and guests such as Li Jianmeng, Director of the Innovation and Development Department of the Seed Industry Management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Sun Feizhou, Director of the Livestock and Poultry Resources Department of the National Livestock and Poultry Station, Peng Wenjun, Director of the Technology Transfer Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Kang Dongming, Deputy Director of Foshan High - tech Zone Management Committee, Luo Bingjian, Chief Veterinarian of Foshan City Agriculture and Rural Bureau, and Li Kui, Chief Scientist of the Agricultural Genomics Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, attended the opening ceremony of the forum. Tang Zhonglin, Executive Dean of Foshan Kunpeng Modern Agriculture Research Institute and Executive Chairman of the Conference, presided over the opening ceremony.

Li Jianmeng, Director of the Innovation and Development Department of the Seed Industry Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the conference and delivered a speech. He said that good seeds are an important foundation for ensuring the healthy development of the livestock industry and are the key to enhancing the core competitiveness of the livestock industry. Local pig breeds, as unique agricultural genetic resources in China, carry rich biodiversity and profound cultural connotations. It is necessary to strongly support scientific research and teaching units, and live pig enterprises to make full use of new technologies, new methods, and new sources of seeds to deeply explore the excellent characteristics of local breeds in terms of quality, disease resistance, and tolerance to coarse feed; strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in the live pig seed industry, continuously display and promote the unique advantages and brand value of China's local pig breeds, and enhance the reputation and influence of China's live pig industry in the international market.

A total of 16 experts shared their keynote speech at this forum, focusing on the protection and utilization of local pig genetic resources, in-depth discussions on the genetic background, breeding technology, and reproduction management of local pigs, analysis of the current situation and development trends of the local pig industry, exploration of the market demand and consumption trends of local pig products, and sharing of advanced models and innovative technologies in local pig breeding. Among them, Cheng Shiwen, Technical Director of VJTBio gave a report titled "Recombinant Reproductive Hormones in Sow Reproduction and Embryo Engineering Research". He focused on sharing the advanced nature of the company's products and technologies, as well as the application value of the products in sow reproduction and the experimental data in the research field, which is supported by both theory and practical experience.

The protection and development and utilization of local pig resources must rely on the joint efforts of the whole society. Governments, research institutes, and enterprises need to work together to break through technological bottlenecks and accelerate the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements. At the opening ceremony on the same day, the forum also held a signing ceremony for industry-academy-enterprise cooperation agreements.
